Hitting Intentions

Hitting Intentions

  • The word intent is tremendously important in all aspects of hitting. Here are some questions you can ask yourself:
  • Do I have clear cut intentions regarding preparation and game performance or do I just wing it?
  • Is my ingame intent to drive the ball and do damage or am I content to touch it?
  • Do I have the proper intent based on the game situation?
  • Do I deliberately practice a deficient area of my mechanics or do I just swing hoping to improve?
  • Are my practice swings done with the same effort level as the game or do I tone it down based on the number of reps?
  • Is my intention to be the best I can possibly be or is good enough, good enough?
  • Am I easily discouraged or are my intentions and focus strong enough to break down and build new habits over time?
  • When working a particular piece of the overall swing can I focus on that single issue or are my intentions on the results?
  • Is my intent to clear up clutter and work with a clear singular thought mindset?
  • Is my thinking external during the game?
